I’m loving the way you tell a story that could only have happened to you, yet somehow belongs to all of us. The details are wonderfully specific: Fairview Mall, La Paloma, endless coffee refills, prog rock debates, the anxiety of getting turned away at the door. Those particulars make the story feel real. But beneath it all lies a universal experience too. Almost all of us remember that age of desperately wanting to belong, discovering who our people were, and realizing that life’s defining moments often happen when our plans go awry.

Thanks for sharing. I had a similar experience with a group of friends in high school and we remain in touch to this day. Those connections really changed my life in a good way
